NEW Mossley mum Fiona Storer, who was nominated for the UK’s Most Inspirational Woman Award, has returned home from London a winner, despite losing out in the competition.

Fiona was named as one of just three finalists in the nationwide competition of the ITV awards.

She travelled to London and appeared on the Lorraine Kelly show on ITV and attended a gala lunch and awards ceremony at the InterContinental Hotel in Mayfair on Monday.

“I was not too disappointed to lose out,” said Fiona, “the whole experience was incredible.

“The lunch was amazing, there was so many inspirational women there. I was just fortunate that I was invited along.

“Lorraine Kelly and Barbara Knox - Rita from Coronation Street - were at our table and I met Katie Piper, a model who was left disfigured after acid was thrown on her face, and a woman who was 106 and one of the Suffragettes. All incredible woman who have led such inspirational lives.

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and it left me feeling like a total winner.”

Fiona was nominated for the award by her mother Ivy, for her work with young carers.
