Straid WI hosts ‘Visitors Night’

THE President of Straid Women’s Institute (WI) Ann Magee, welcomed everyone to the May meeting which was ‘Visitors Night’.

The visiting WI members were from Glengormley, Ballynure, Carrickfergus and Muckamore.

There was a very interesting talk on how to declutter wardrobes and the best ways in which to accessorise outfits with scarves and jewellery. Three members also modelled outfits from Joli Clothing in Ballyclare.

The President congratulated Jen Wilson on winning the Ashcroft Trophy for Flower Arranging, as well as the team who came second in the Morton Trophy contest at the Knockagh Area Spring Meeting. Also in for praise was Elizabeth Bridgham who was Highly Commended in Floral Art at the Balmoral Show.

The Friendship Cup was won by Valarie Park, Ann Knox won the Competition Prize and Ann Magee the Magazine Prize.

The President then presented Mrs Lily Woodside with a birthday card and cake as it was her 99th birthday.

The evening’s proceedings closed with the singing of ‘A Countrywoman’s Song’.
