MAYOR Victor Robinson has welcomed a new Mexican business and with it the creation of six new jobs.
El Burrito has opened in Whiteabbey offering healthy freshly made Mexican food.
Local woman Linda Douglas said she set up the business after identifying a gap in the market.
She said: “Coming from a long professional career in the catering industry, I knew the time was right to start something new.
“I love Mexican food but always had to travel into Belfast to experience it, so I decided to open up El Burrito.
“The business is going from strength-to-strength and we would invite everyone to come along and see what we have to offer.”
Mayor, alderman Victor Robinson added: “We are always delighted to see new businesses starting up in the borough.
“EL Burrito opens up our taste buds to new and exciting Mexican flavours. It is refreshing to see true entrepreneurial spirit in this tough economic climate.”
Nadean Lowe, the council’s economic development officer said: “Linda should be very proud of what she has achieved.
“Creating six new part time jobs and the prospect of creating another six jobs in the near future is a real good news story.
“The council is continually working to support local businesses and we are excited to welcome El Burrito into Newtownabbey.”
El Burrito is open Monday to Saturday 12noon to 10pm and Sunday from 2pm to 10pm.
