Ballynure WI members get creative with old furniture
President Geraldine Wylie welcomed members and visitors to the February meeting of Ballynure WI.
Guest speaker Isobel Ewing displayed some items of old furniture which had been given a whole new look. She explained how to prepare the wood, methods of painting, waxing, creating a distressed look, and even stencil work. She had brought along a small table, giving several members the opportunity to take up a paint brush and try their own decoration.
Isobel also provided members with recipes for ingredients to create coloured chalk paints.
A vote of thanks was given by Jill McCartney.
First prize in the competition ‘A Wooden Heart’ was won by Roberta Stitt, with Beth Forsythe second and Carol Carser taking third. The magazine prize was won by Dilys Barr.
