Cash and jewellery stolen from house in Doagh

Detectives investigating a burglary in Doagh on Tuesday, October 7 have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

“Residents of a house on the Ballymena Road were returning home at around 5.45pm yesterday when they spotted three males running away from their property,” Detective Inspector David Skelly explained.

“They then discovered the house had been entered and cash and a quantity of jewellery stolen.

“Neighbours who spotted the three males in the area gave chase, however they managed to make off.”

One of the males is described as being of a “large or plump build”, while the other two were “slim”. All three were white.

A 28-year-old man was arrested in the Templepatrick area and questioned in connection with the burglary. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

“Anyone who saw the three males in the Doagh area yesterday or anyone with any other information that could assist the investigation is asked to call Newtownabbey CID on the non-emergency number 101,” DI Skelly added.
