Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is to spend almost £2,000 on new directional signage for four local community facilities.

A new sign for Lilian Bland Pavilion in Glengormley will be erected at the junction of Carnmoney Road and Antrim Road, while Hazelbank Pavilion will be signposted from the Shore Road.

A new sign for Mossley Pavilion will be erected on Carnmoney Road North at the junction of Campbell Road, and a sign for Rathcoole Pavilion will be placed on Doagh Road at the Green End junction.

At the council’s monthly meeting last week, members were reminded that the provision of directional signage on public roads is the responsibility of TransportNI, who advised that they are able to facilitate directional signage requests where adequate car parking is available.

“TransportNI have advised that the cost for the provision of each double sided sign would be approximately £490, therefore the total cost for the four signs will be approximately £1,960,” a report to members stated.

It was proposed by Cllr Jim Bingham, seconded by Cllr Philip Brett and agreed that the four signs should be provided at a cost of £1,960.
