Pictures shared online by concerned residents showed graffiti of a graphic nature had been scrawled at a children’s play area in the Sixmilewater Park sometime over the weekend.

The facility is operated by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.

In a statement issued to the Times, a spokesperson for the local authority said: “The council was made aware of vandalism involving inappropriate chalk markings in the Sixmilewater Park in Ballyclare which has now been removed.

“Concerned residents should contact the Policing and Community Safety Partnership via email [email protected] who will arrange for the Community Safety Wardens to maintain a presence in the area.

“If a member of the public witnesses anti-social behaviour or criminal damage, they should report this directly to the PSNI by calling 101.”
