Police probe Newtownabbey armed robbery

Detectives are appealing for information after an armed robbery in the Fairview Road area of Newtownabbey this morning (Tuesday, May 18).

Detailing the incident, a PSNI spokesperson said: “It was reported shortly before 4.30am that the injured party was struck over the back of the head with an object and his bag, which contained an iPad, some prescription medication and cash was stolen.

During the altercation, the victim was thrown to the ground and sustained a further injury to his hip. He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

“The male suspect is described as being approximately six feet tall and of medium build. He is reported to have been wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a black coat with the hood up and a black mask.”
