Detailing the incident, a PSNI spokesperson said: “In the early hours of this morning, Roads Policing officers from Steeple stopped a driver travelling north on the M2 near Templepatrick after observing the vehicle travelling at speeds between 120-130mph.

“The driver claimed to have had a long day at work. At night, on a dark stretch of motorway, sight of the road ahead is limited, and at those speeds, reaction time is drastically reduced.

“This, combined with a long day at work is not a good combination. The driver will now have their day in court.”
