A Ballyclare apprentice will be travelling to Germany to take part in the World Skills finals in the city of Leipzig Germany.
David Cargill, who works for Schrader Electronics will be taking part in the mechatronics section of the competition with a team of others from across the UK.
David said: “My college tutor told me that I didn’t have to study A Levels to progress and an apprenticeship could also provide me with the opportunity to progress to a high level and rewarding career.
“I know what it is like to compete internationally after I competed in Denmark earlier this year.
“This also gave us a chance to check out some of the teams we will be competing against at World Skills.
“Most importantly, we have great supporters back home who we know will be cheering us on and we want to do them proud.
“The mechatronics competition is one of the longest competitions at World Skills in terms of the number of hours you are competing for.
“We know that this will take a huge amount of focus and energy but we have been preparing for this.”
