GAS mains laying work in Doagh is nearing completion and the company behind the work said it expects no further road closures in the village.
Firmus energy is working to extend its network in the Ballyclare and Doagh areas because of increased demand for the utility.
Recently a number of roads have been closed and diversions put in place to accommodate this work.
This week the energy company said the work is almost completed and two teams were working simultaneously to speed up proceedings.
A spokeswoman said: “firmus energy is committed to bringing the benefits of natural gas to the Doagh and Ballyclare area with as little disruption as possible to residents and traders.
“Currently the firmus energy natural gas price for domestic and business customers is over 50 per cent cheaper than heating oil. The demand from local residents and businesses has increased dramatically, hence the need for the extension of our natural gas network across these areas.
“Firmus energy plans to invest hundreds of thousands of pounds extending the network and aim to reach Ballyclare town centre early 2012.”
