Businesses in Newtownabbey are being offered the opportunity to participate in a free business diversity programme.
The initiative, supported by Peace III funding, aims to build awareness and understanding of diversity in the workplace and society through a series of interactive and participative sessions. It will examine and challenge personal views and perceptions of others, and encourage participants to recognise the impact their behaviour can have on individuals and the organisation in a moral, business and legal context.
The programme will offer firms the chance to review their approach to respect and dignity at work, mentoring and training for managers and staff, and the opportunity to network with similar organisations in the area to benchmark and share best practice.
Businesses already signed up for the initiative include Bombardier, Shraeder Electronics, Chesapeake and Canyon.
Deborah McConnell of Business in the Community commented: “Open to any manufacturing business or related service, large or small in the Antrim, Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey areas, we will build on the positive working relationships that you have, work on those that might be better, enhance employee engagement and build trust. We will focus on the importance of individual contribution and relationship building within the workplace in a way that will reinforce the culture of respect and drive business success.”
Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Anyone interested in finding out more should contact firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 028 9046 0606.
