CUSTOMERS and employees of Funky Monkeys soft play centres, including the outlet in Newtownabbey, have shown their generosity by raising £6,000 for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC).
The charity offers practical, financial and emotional support to children, teenagers and young adults living with cancer as well as their parents, guardians and siblings.
NICFC provides vital services such as ward support, one-to-one sessions and facilitates stays at its Shimna Valley respite centre near Newcastle, Co Down.
Recognising the great service provided by the charity, Funky Monkeys chose NICFC as its official charity partner for 2011 - 2012 and fundraised by holding various events at each of the eight Funky Monkeys centres across the province, as well as joining together as a team to climb Slieve Donard and participate in the Belfast City Marathon Fun Run.
Claire Toner, marketing manager for Funky Monkeys, said: “We are very proud to support the fantastic work carried out by NICFC and hope that our contributions can go some way to making the lives of those affected by children’s cancer a little easier. Choosing NICFC as our nominated charity was a natural fit as like Funky Monkeys, they have children and families at the heart of everything they do.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and employees at each of our centres for all their effort and generosity. We will shortly be announcing our charity partner for 2012 - 2013 and we hope that many will support our future fundraising activities, which as we can see from NICFC, can be so important to helping charities deliver such worthwhile and much-needed services.”
