A GLENGORMLEY councillor has paid tribute to the “unsung heroes” of the town’s local community.
Antrim Line representative Mark Cosgrove said the work of the town’s voluntary organisations was helping to build a sustainable future.
He was speaking following the first AGM of the Glengormley Community Group on Wednesday, February 29.
The group was set up just over a year ago and during that time has made great strides in helping to unite and build relationships in the community.
At Wednesday’s meeting the former Committee stood down and new officers were elected to take the group through the coming year. Catherine Hardy was named Chairperson, Martine Andrews, Secretary, and Stephanie Baine, Treasurer.
They thanked councillor Cosgrove who has provided support in a consultative role and been of invaluable assistance to the group since its formation.
The group also thanked all the local councillors who have helped over the past year and everyone who had made the effort to attend the AGM.
At the meeting, various plans for the coming year were discussed including work on the Community Garden and Orchard at Lilian Bland Community Park on Carnmoney Road.
