A LARGE crowd of people lined the streets of Ballyclare on Monday evening (June 25) for the town’s annual Mini Twelfth parade.
The event, organised by Sixmile District LOL No. 10, passed off peacefully and without incident.
Ten Orange Lodges, accompanied by nine bands, took part in the parade, during which the town’s traditional Orange Arch was officially opened by Bro. John Leeper from Boyd Memorial LOL No. 312. Brethren also gathered in the War Memorial Park for their Battle of the Somme remembrance service.
Commenting after the march, District Master Aaron Weir said: “It was a very successful parade. There was a good turnout of Orangemen and great crowds around the town.”
Local DUP councillor and MLA Paul Girvan, who was there to watch the conclusion of the parade following Monday evening’s council meeting, added: “The weather was favourable and the parade went very well. Everyone seemed to have a good night.”
