THE council is pushing ahead with plans for the refurbishment and enhancement of Sixmilewater Park and the War Memorial Park in Ballyclare.
Already a new children’s play area has been constructed in the park at Avondale Drive at a cost of around £200,000. And now the local authority is progressing a scheme aimed at enhancing the pond/conservation area.
The proposal includes the installation of a boardwalk, new fencing and the provision of interpretation boards. It will also include conservation work at the Motte, landscaping within the War Memorial Park and the erection of new signage.
It is understood the total cost of the project will be around £95,000, with approximately £35,000 of funding being contributed by Biffaward.
Full details of the latest park improvement proposals are expected to be submitted to the council’s Development Committee in the new year for further consideration.
