GROW re-opens for grant aid applications

GROW South Antrim has announced its third call for applications under the themes of Farm Diversification, Business Creation & Development, and Tourism.

The call for applications opened on Monday, May 17 and will close at 4pm on Monday, June 14.

GROW has already approved grant aid of over 1.3 million to 40 projects across rural areas within Antrim, Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey boroughs, which will lead to a total investment of almost 2.27 million in the area.

Congratulating the success of the funding to date, Vera McWilliam, Chair of the GROW Local Action Group stated: “The first calls for applications were a great success with applications coming from a wide range of individuals, businesses, farmers, not-for-profit organisations and councils.

“The funding awarded already of over 1.3 million will have a great impact on the entire community within rural South Antrim, and there is more to invest, so if you have a project idea, get in touch with us to find out what support is available. Together we can turn opportunities into reality. ”

The Programme is open to individuals, farmers, private businesses, councils and not-for-profit organisations, offering support to set up new enterprises and to develop existing micro enterprises, which employ less than 10 full-time persons.

Under the Tourism measure, up to 250,000 is available to not-for-profit organisations at a maximum grant rate of 75%. The maximum grant available for individuals and private businesses under all measures is 50,000 at a 50% grant rate.

Applications submitted after the deadline of 4pm on Monday, June 14, will not be accepted.

The second call for applications under the themes of Basic Services for the Economy & Rural Population and Rural Heritage will open in mid- November 2011.

GROW South Antrim has been set up to manage and deliver funding under the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007 - 2013 across rural South Antrim. The Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 is part financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
