Hazelwood College is celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results today with 100 per cent of students obtaining five or more GCSE’s and 87 per cent of students achieving five subjects at A* - C.
The percentage of students achieving five or more GCSE’s including English and maths has also risen significantly to 48 per cent.
Among the top achieving subjects are English literature, science, sports Studies, media studies, hospitality and catering, Spanish and personal and social development.
A school spokesperson said: “Congratulations are due to all our year 12 students and to their parents for their on-going support.
“Interestingly there was no significant difference in the achievements of boys and girls and Catholic and Protestant children were equally successful. Many of our top performing students are our international students, from countries including Poland and Slovakia.
“Teachers are to be commended for an amazing set of results across 30 subjects.
“This success continues our improvement journey to become one of the top non-selective schools in Northern Ireland.
“These fantastic GCSE results follow the best ever A level results at the college and this is a fitting way to end our thirtieth anniversary celebrations.”
Principal Kathleen O’Hare added: “Congratulations to all our pupils, staff and parents on an amazing set of results. I look forward to welcoming back our largest ever Sixth form to the college in September.”
