The Campbell family from Newtownabbey have raised almost £3,000 for the Friends of the Cancer Centre in memory of their daughter Nicola.
The sum of £2,945 was raised through a “night of celebration” in memory of Nicola, who passed away last year.
The fundraiser took place at the Whiteabbey branch of the Royal British Legion.
Nicola’s mum, Sandra, and dad, Chris, came together with family and friends to celebrate her life and raise funds for the cancer charity.
Nicola was treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, so the family were keen to support a charity that benefits other patients and families right across Northern Ireland.
Commenting on the celebration night, Sandra and Chris said: “The night of celebration was a wonderful night and it was great to see so many people, many close family and friends of Nicola’s, come out to support us.
“Nicola received tremendous care and support during her time in hospital and on behalf of the entire family,
“We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses, domestic staff and everyone at the Royal and at the Cancer Centre who made an extremely difficult time that bit easier with their care and support.
“We’re delighted that we have been able to raise so much money for a charity that we know makes a huge difference to cancer patients and their families.
“We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who came along on the night and donated so generously.”
