Man arrested in connection with armed robbery

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a shop in Newtownabbey on Tuesday night, December 23.

A man armed with a knife entered the premises in the Abbey Trading Estate on Longwood Road shortly after 8.30pm.

He threatened a member of staff and forced him to open the safe, before making off with a sum of cash.

The arrested man was detained by police a short distance away and a sum of cash was recovered.
