McCord to attend fundraiser despite death threat

VICTIMS campaigner and Assembly election hopeful Raymond McCord has said he will travel to a campaign fundraiser in Liverpool this weekend, despite a warning that an attempt could be made to kill him if he attends the event.

Mr McCord, who has been threatened numerous times in recent years for speaking out against loyalist paramilitary groups, this week received official notification from the PSNI warning him that police have ‘anonymous information’ that an attempt could be made on his life if he goes to the event at The Stanley Arms in Bootle.

Despite the latest death threat, the North Belfast man says he will attend the fundraising evening on Saturday (April 9).
