Mental Health Awareness week focuses on 5 steps to wellbeing

The Public Health Agency (PHA) is urging people to use Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from May 16-22, to think about their own mental health and what they can do to improve it.

It is recommending that people adopt the five steps to wellbeing: connect with friends or family, be active, take notice of your surroundings, keep learning on hobbies and courses, and give back to friends and the community, for example by volunteering.

Senior Health and Social Wellbeing Improvement Officer at the PHA Amanda O’Neill said: “By adopting the Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing, and introducing them into everyday life, we can improve our mental health.”
