New pizza outlet to deliver jobs boost

THE opening of a Domino’s Pizza outlet in Ballyclare could create up to 30 new jobs, it has been claimed.

The pizza delivery company is due to open its new store at The Square later this month.

During a recent meeting of Newtownabbey Council’s Planning Committee, local political representatives expressed concerns that approval for the new take-away could lead to the loss of a number of jobs at an existing fast food outlet in the town.

However, Mark Weiniger, franchisee for the new store, said the new Domino’s will create between 25 and 30 full-time and part-time jobs, including recruiting trainee managers, customer service representatives and delivery drivers.

“I am looking forward to opening a new store in Ballyclare and to employing people who live in the community that we’ll be serving,” he said.

Welcoming the company’s move into Ballyclare, DUP councillor Jackie Mann commented: “If they’re going to create up to 30 full and part-time jobs then I think that’s good news for the town and something that has to be welcomed.

“I know there are concerns that we could lose an existing pizza place in the town as a result of this, but hopefully people will support both and the town can sustain both businesses.”
