TRAFFIC chaos ensued in Glengormley on Monday morning, as motorists failed to follow the town’s new one-way system.
Countless motorists drove in the wrong direction down Portland Avenue paying scant regard to the new signage and road layout which came into operation over the weekend.
On Friday, October 7, Roads Service staff installed eight new parking bays along the street. To accommodate these spaces, the road has been converted into a one-way system to allow traffic to flow with ease from the Carnmoney Road onto the Ballyclare Road.
However, despite visible signs put in place on the road, many drivers ignored them and just carried on down the street from the Ballyclare Road, forcing stand-offs between cars and drivers’ angry exchanges.
