Council could sell off land for football pitch
The council is to seek valuations for land at O’Neill Road (the former landfill site) and the shale pitches behind the Valley Leisure Centre.
The move comes after St Mary’s Football Club expressed an interest in securing land from the local authority for a football pitch development.
A third potential site, at Burney’s Lane, has already been ruled out by council due to its proximity to residential properties.
