Party leader praises former MLA

Alliance leader David Ford has paid tribute to former East Antrim MLA Sean Neeson, who is stepping down from local politics.

Mr Ford, who represents South Antrim, described the Carrick councillor as “one of the most positive voices for peace, particularly during the darkest days of the Troubles.”

Mr Neeson - a former teacher in St Comgall’s High School, Larne - was first elected to Carrick Council in 1977, serving as mayor from 1993-94. He was also is a former leader of the Alliance party.
