A temporary waste disposal facility will be in place at the Valley Leisure Centre car park from Monday, December 28 to Thursday, December 31 from 9am until 5pm.

Residents will be able to bring their excess waste and recycling to the bin lorry which will be located in the car park. Pre-booking for this facility is not required, however identification and proof of residency in the borough will be checked upon arrival.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Cllr Jim Montgomery said: “I want to thank all those residents who have continued to recycle this year and ensured that we remained one of the top recycling council areas in Northern Ireland.

“As we approach the Christmas season I want to encourage everyone to keep doing their bit for the environment and recycle as much waste as possible. Our waste crews will be continuing to deliver the essential bin collection service during the forthcoming restrictions and I would remind our residents to do all they can to keep them safe and wipe down bin handles before and after leaving them out.”
