Residents will not be able to come together as a community and celebrate the Christmas lights switch on this year, but the council has a great virtual line up in store to help bring the magic of Christmas to your home.

Join Cool FM’s Stuart Robinson this Saturday as he hosts the local authority’s virtual Christmas tree light switch on.

Included in the festive line up is storytelling with Mr Hullabaloo, live music, lots of prizes and giveaways and one lucky runner up from the Mayor’s Christmas card competition will receive a fun filled stocking full of treats which will be delivered directly to their door by Santa during the virtual switch on event.

A council spokesperson said: “We know Christmas is going to be different this year and we would encourage you all to log onto this special festive programme that we can all enjoy from the safety of our own homes whilst spreading some Christmas cheer.

“A virtual Christmas light switch on event will take place across all seven DEA areas, Glengormley, Macedon, Antrim, Ballyclare, Threemilewater, Randalstown and Crumlin over the next few weeks.”

Residents will be able to watch the virtual Christmas programme via the council’s Facebook page, YouTube channel or on the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council website.
