Col Moore, who is celebrating his 100th birthday today, received plaudits from across the UK after raising over £30m for the NHS by recently walking laps of his garden.

Pupils at the Doagh Road school wanted to wish the World War Two veteran a very happy birthday.

Students attending school this week prepared a banner as part of their heartfelt gesture.

Commenting on the effort, their teacher, Mr Anthony said: “I think we’ll have to make him a second one now that he’s a Colonel!

“Pupils in school designed the banner while the children still at home designed some beautiful birthday cards for him.”

Miss Montgomery (teaching assistant), added: “Even though we’re apart, for now, we’re all in this together.”
