THE PSNI is investigating a road traffic incident involving one of its own vehicles in Monkstown over the weekend.
Police said the Ford Focus patrol car and a Mazda 3 collided close to the Old Carrick Road junction with Monkstown Road shortly before 11pm on Saturday, April 28.
The driver of the Mazda is understood to have sustained a minor shoulder injury, while no police officers were injured.
A PSNI spokesperson said the patrol vehicle was responding to a call, and it’s understood the blue lights were on at the time of the collision.
The incident has not been referred to the Police Ombudsman’s Office.
This is the second road traffic incident involving a police vehicle in recent weeks.
Police officers suffered minor injuries when the Land Rover they were travelling in hit a traffic signal on Sandyknowes roundabout on Friday, April 13.
