NEWTOWNABBEY PSNI Area Commander, Chief Inspector Stephen Reid, has praised all those who worked to ensure that Glengormley’s annual Mini Twelfth parade passed off without incident.

Chief Inspector Reid, who co-ordinated the policing operation in the town on Tuesday night (June 26), praised participants and spectators and commended the work carried out on all sides to ensure that the parade passed off peacefully.

“I was encouraged by the dignified and responsible way in which the event was conducted and marshaled,” he said.

“The organisers, stewards, councillors and community representatives ensured the event passed off peacefully and their contribution was greatly appreciated. This is a clear demonstration of what we can achieve when we work together.

“We would urge everyone to continue in this vein to ensure that our communities are not disrupted with the violence we have seen in the past, and that the remainder of the summer is peaceful,” he added.
