THE Post Office has been asked to reopen its Ballyclare branch as soon as possible by town councillor, Pat McCudden.
Following legal complications brought about by Woodsides - the store where the branch is based - entering administration, the Post Office has closed, forcing the town’s residents to travel outside Ballyclare for postal services.
Woodsides Supervalu, meanwhile, is continuing to trade while the administrators search for a buyer for the business.
The Post Office has said it is working to resolve the matter and said it hoped a branch could reopen “within days” in the town.
Alliance councillor Pat McCudden urged the Post Office to sort out the matter.
He said: “As a town with a population of nearly 10,000 I am totally surprised that the Post Office has closed and we are given little information or explanation and just told it will be closed until further notice.”
