Public will be informed throughout A2 works

THE Roads Service has pledged to keep the public informed throughout the two year programme of works to dual the A2 between Whiteabbey and Carrick.

At Monday night’s planning and consultation committee Basil Hassard gave a presentation on the works, scheduled to begin at the end of the month.

Over 50,000 leaflets will be distributed to affected householders detailing the works.

Mr Hasssard said during the day at busy times the contractor will maintain two lanes of traffic moving in each direction, as is the case currently.

He said lane closures outside these times will take place, but the public and various organisations will be kept notified at all times.

He said disruption would be “inevitable”, but Roads Service and their contractor Graham Construction were working hard to keep it to a minimum.

The majority of councillors welcomed the start of the work.
