Councillor Thomas Hogg has welcomed confirmation from Roads Service that Old Irish Highway in Rathcoole is to be included in its programme of resurfacing works for the next financial year.
“Old Irish Highway has seen considerable excavation by utility companies in recent times and the road carriageway is in a very poor state,” the DUP man commented.
“Local residents have been campaigning to have Old Irish Highway resurfaced for many years and I am delighted to have now received confirmation from Roads Service that the area is to be included in the resurfacing programme for 2014/15.”
Councillor Hogg thanked Roads Service officials for their “responsiveness and cooperation”on the issue.
“Whilst Roads Service naturally focus their resources on roads with a high volume of traffic, it is important that residential streets are maintained to a high standard.
“I will continue to lobby for much needed resurfacing works at a number of locations across the local area,” the Macedon representative added.
