GLENGORMLEY councillors have welcomed a commitment from Roads Service to put the N21 Mayfield Link road on the gritting schedule, despite the fact that the route hasn’t yet been officially adopted by the Department for Regional Development.
During a meeting with Divisional Roads Manager John Irvine last week, councillor Noreen McClelland and councillor Mark Cosgrove both thanked Roads Service for agreeing to grit the busy route, which connects the Mayfield development to the Mallusk Road.
The SDLP representative and her UUP colleague stressed that residents of the area had had to endure treacherous conditions on the road last winter during the prolonged period of snow and ice.
Both councillors also asked Mr Irvine for an update on when the road might finally be adopted by Roads Service, bringing an end to a long-running saga that has been frustrating local residents for several years.
