Santas stroll for charities

OVER 50 people took part in the annual Santa Stroll for the Mayor’s nominated charities on Friday, December 14.

The event saw all those taking part dress up as old St Nick to walk along part of the Newtownabbey Way to raise much needed funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, Epilepsy NI and Reach.

Despite the weather, everyone taking part in the 3km stroll really got into the festive spirit and enjoyed the mince pies at the finish line.

Ashers Bakery also laid out a surprise of lovely treats for the hardy walkers when they reached the “North Pole”.

Mayor Victor Robinson said: “This annual sponsored walk is a great way to raise money for some terrific causes as well as raising the profile of the fantastic charities.

“Thanks to everyone who braved the weather, got involved and had some fun.”

Dean Holmes, sport and play development officer added: “This event has become a Christmas tradition and long may it continue.”
