September extension for local centres

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has approved the extension of service management agreements for three local community centres.

The service agreements at Monkstown Jubilee Centre, Ballyduff Community Centre and Rathfern Social Activity Centre have been extended with the relevant groups for a six month period until Friday, September 30, 2016.

A review of the current management arrangements at the three centres is currently under way. A report outlining the outcome of the review and proposals for the management of the centres after Saturday, October 1, 2016 will be presented to the Community Planning and Regeneration Committee in May this year.

Meanwhile, at the same committee meeting on Monday, March 7, there was further discussion on the council’s community centres after a request was received for the provision of directional signage on both the Doagh Road and O’Neill Road to assist visitors to locate Rathfern Social Activity Centre.

Officers will review the need for directional signage to the council’s nine community centres and report back to the committee’s April meeting.
