‘Speeding cyclists must slow down’

Local councillors have called for measures to be put in place to slow down cyclists using the Newtownabbey Way.

The call was made at the Environment Committee meeting on June 10, during which it was claimed that some cyclists are using the route for racing, timing how quickly they can travel between Corr’s Corner and the coastal path at Whiteabbey.

While officers pointed out that there are already signs along the route advising cyclists to ride at appropriate speeds, members called for additional safety measures to ensure they slow down.
