Take on Driver Challenge

NEWTOWNABBEY Road Safety Committee will be holding a Driver Challenge event as part of the May Fair celebrations.

The event will take place on Monday, May 24 at the Harrier Way car park, beside Ballyclare Comrades football ground, and will run from 6.30pm onwards.

There will be cash prizes for the best male and female drivers, with the best ‘R’ driver also receiving a cash prize. If there are sufficient numbers, runners up prizes will also be awarded.

The competition will involve drivers completing a manoeuvrability test and answering road safety questions. Drivers will use their own cars.

Mrs Pat Martin, Chair of the local Road Safety Committee said: “I am delighted that we are once again able to organise this event as part of the May Fair celebrations. It gives the opportunity for local drivers to come along and demonstrate their skills - and in some cases highlights the fact that they need to improve them! I would particularly like to invite younger drivers to participate.

“All you need to do now is turn up on the night. Entry is free.”

The event is supported by Newtownabbey Borough Council and the District Policing Partnership.
