‘The damage that could be done to my son forced me out of violent relationship’

A WOMAN who was the victim of domestic violence at the hands of her partner has urged anyone who may be suffering abuse to seek help.

She has made the call after her former partner was convicted of assaulting her.

The victim has asked that we don’t reveal her details, or his, as she said she still lives in fear he may seek retribution for her speaking out.

“From the moment the incident was first reported I could not believe the level of support there was,” said the woman.

“You convince yourself that you are on your own and maybe the things he is telling you are true. I had a child with the man and thought that he loved me and you do feel embarrassed to admit what’s happening.

“But I thought about our son and the damage that could be done to him and I knew I had to get out.”
