Police are investigating the theft of a substantial amount of copper from a housing development.
Around £3,000 worth of copper was taken from the site at Rathcoole Gardens sometime between 4pm on Friday 10 and the time of the report on Monday morning, February 13.
Investigating officers have appealed for anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, to contact them at Newtownabbey Station.
Meanwhile, with thieves regularly targeting building sites and newly built homes for the purpose of stealing tools, equipment and valuable materials like copper, police are urging builders and contractors to protect their work sites by taking security precautions.
The PSNI’s advice is to secure sites using suitable fencing and gates, install security lighting, mark valuable items, to employ security guards to patrol construction sites and to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
