Lanes closed during Newtownabbey works

Motorists are advised that a section of the Mallusk Road in Newtownabbey is closed for works.

The lane closure, which commenced at 9.30am today (Wednesday), is operating from the junction of Hightown Road to the junction of Mallusk Drive.

A Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesperson said: “The closure is required off-peak only for trail hole to access suitability of proposed 5G telecoms mast.

“Three-way traffic signals will be in operation.”

The work is being conducted by a DfI Roads contractor.

Road users are advised to expect an estimated delay of up to five minute.

The work is set to be completed by 4.30pm on Thursday, May 27.

Meanwhile, a lane closure is also operating on the Hightown Road from 50m to 60m from the junction of Farmley Crescent country-bound.

A DfI spokesperson explained: “The closure is required continuously to provide a gas connection. Lights and same day reinstatement will be utilized.”

The work is being carried out by Phoenix Natural Gas.

Estimated delays of up to five minutes are to be expected.

The work is due to be finished by 4.30pm on May 26.
