A GLENGORMLEY man who stabbed his estranged wife to death has been jailed for life.
At Belfast Crown Court on March 8, Gerard O’Kane pleaded guilty to murdering Ann-Marie O’Kane (50).
Mrs O’Kane’s body was found with multiple stab wounds in a flat in Northview off the Antrim Road on May 23 last year.
O’Kane, of Hollybank Avenue, was arrested following the murder after going to Glengormley police station.
Mr Justice Weir told O’Kane: “There is only one sentence which by law I can pass. That is life imprisonment and I now do that.”
The judge adjourned setting the minimum tariff that O’Kane must serve before being considered for release on licence until pre-sentence probation reports are complete.
He was remanded back into custody until April 20.
