Woman arrested in connection with Sean McParland’s murder released


A 45-year-old woman arrested by police investigating the murder of Sean McParland two decades ago has been released, pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The woman was arrested in Newtownabbey on Tuesday morning.

Sean McParland, 55, was shot while babysitting in Skegoneill Avenue in February 1994. He died of his injuries a week later.

The woman was questioned as part of Operation Stafford, which examines murders and serious crimes committed by the UVF in north Belfast.
