What a weekend it was for Templepatrick’s Jordi Fettis who excelled with both bat and ball in two Section 2 fixtures.
On Saturday he top-scored against Millpark with an unbeaten 58 and then on Sunday he enhanced his all-rounder credentials with a five-wicket haul and a knock of 31 not-out.
Fettis was the star performer in the one-sided clash with Millpark in Gilford, where his unbeaten 58 underpinned his side’s nine-wicket win.
Batting first, the home side, who remain pointless at the foot of the table, never recovered from a 20 for three start and were duly dispatched for 71 in 25.5 overs.
Skipper Ross Bryans spearheaded the attack with impressive figures of 5-2-9-4, well supported by John Busby who had 3-29 and Michael Stewart with 1-21.
In reply, a first-wicket partnership of 55 between Fettis and U15 XI captain Adam Clarke had the visitors well on the way to victory with James Jackson (three n/o) hitting the winning run with the total 72 for one. Fettis’s half-century, scored off 40 balls, included four fours and three sixes.
On Sunday Fettis produced figures of 9-2-16-5 as Laurelvale were bowled out for 65 in the 34th over.
The bowlers all bowled economically: Phil Kernaghan took 2-7, Bryans 2-13 and Busby 1-11.
TCC knocked off the 66 needed for victory in only 15.3 overs without losing a wicket as Jay Hunter (34no) and Fettis (31no) carried their bats to secure victory by the maximum margin of 10 wickets.
The wins keep Bryans’ lads in the top half of the table, while Laurelvale and Cliftonville continue to battle for supremacy at the top.
n Teenager Charlie Munro and skipper Paddy Lutton were star performers in TCC’s 2nd XI win by eight wickets against Muckamore III at The Cloughan in a Junior League fixture.
Munro took six wickets as the visitors were dismissed for 60, while Lutton top scored with 35, and John McCombe contributed 15 in a winning total of 61 for 2.
