Darts: Blair is beaten finalist

After terrific performances in the 10 weekly qualifying heats, Ballyclare Darts League players Gary Elliott and Johnny Blair progressed to the finals of the West Belfast Open held at Trinity Lodge.

Elliott, without ever hitting top gear, reached the last 16 of the event, with Johnny Blair going all the way to the final.

Blair went about his business in a confident manner, progressing to the semi-finals where he played fellow County player Ian Kitchen. He found himself 3-2 down before a wonderful 128 check-out, followed by a 70 check-out booked his spot in the showpiece.

In the end, Kevin Burness was just too good for him with missed doubles costing Blair dearly.

All connected with the Ballyclare Darts League wish to congratulate both players.
