Wellington Rec made it three wins out of three in Division 1B with a 4-3 home victory over Rosario YC, thanks to a late Michael Moore goal.

The Millbrook men aren’t quite firing on all cylinders and this was their toughest test yet, with Rosario coming back three times after Rec had taken the lead through Scott Todd (penalty), Moore and sub Josh McAllister.

Also with three wins out of three are Mossley FC, who won 2-0 away to Bangor Amateurs in Division 1C. Second-half strikes from Ricky Moore and Ross Miskimmin sealed the deal.

Manager Garry Campbell said: “Not many teams will go down there and get anything – but that’s three wins and two clean sheets out of three.”

Still in 1c, it’s three defeats in a row for Newington Rangers after losing 2-0 at Saintfield United. This came after a 7-2 midweek drubbing at 18th Newtownabbey.

“We are struggling and we need to get players in,” said boss, Graham McConnell. “We were trounced by 18th but I can live with a bad performance. It’s what you do after it and I was more disappointed when only six turned up for training on Thursday night, When I played football, you couldn’t wait to get back at it and get it out of your system!”

Another unhappy manager was Larne Tech’s Johnny Hastings, who saw his side beaten 3-1 at East Belfast. “We were certainly not good enough. Players we expect more from haven’t turned up for us yet,” he said. Niall McAllister got the Tech’s consolation.

Also in 1a, a last-gasp goal gave 1st Bangor OB all three points in a 2-1 win at 10-man Barn United. Harry Spence saw red 12 minutes from time. Matthew Bingham cancelled out the Old Boys’ first-half opener.

In 1b, an 83rd-minute winner gave Ballynahinch Olympic all three points in 1-0 win over UUJ. The visitors’ best moment coming when Johnny Magennis banged one off the bar.

Premier Division Islandmagee remain unbeaten with three draws from three. David Rollo’s side bagged point when Jamie Harper equalised against Kilmore Rec. The game ended 1-1.

In the Steel Cup, Rathfern Rangers came from a goal down to beat Shorts 2-1 at the Diamond. David Moore and Robert Brown were their marksmen.

Nortel won 4-1 on penalties at Downshire YM after the scores were locked at 2-2 at the end of extra-time.
