Black puts Sky Blues in shade, Mullan sizzles for Whites

Intermediate Division: Rathcoole twice came from behind to claim a valuable three points in a 3-2 win at Magherafelt Sky Blues. Brian Black’s 90th-minute winner proved vital.

Ciaran Monaghan’s goal gave the home side the advantage at the break but Black levelled on 56 minutes. When Monaghan restored the Sky Blues’ advantage 20 minutes later, they looked to be on course for the win but Aaron Lindsay tore up the script to put the Diamond men back on terms. Black’s last-gasp winner turned the game on its head.

Junior Division One: It was a comfortable afternoon for FC Whiteabbey who racked up a 4-0 success against Cookstown Olympic. Conor Mullan bagged a hat-trick and Ryan Davey scored the other.

A Michael Frew double and goals from Philip Browne and Paul Walker eased Mallusk Athletic to a 4-1 home win over Cookstown RBL.

Junior Division Two: For Ballynure Old Boys ‘B’, this weekend’s derby against struggling Ballyclare North End can’t come soon enough as they bid to banish the memory of Saturday’s 9-0 drubbing at the hands of fourth-placed Newington YC II.

Junior Division Three: Mountainview were 2-1 winners in the top-of-the-table clash against Ballysillan Swifts Reserves thanks to a first-half brace from William Cushley. Craig Beattie netted for Ballysillan in what was their first league defeat of the season.

A Marc Campbell double and another from Stevie Howe gave 3rd Ballyclare Old Boys a 3-1 victory - their first in the league - over Mallusk Athletic Reserves. Brian Parker’s 80th-minute goal was little more than a consolation for Mallusk.

Brendan McWilliams, Paul Donnelly and Gareth McMullan found the net as Remo FC ran out 3-0 winners over Red Star, while Chris Sykes scored both in 1st Carrickfergus Old Boys’ 2-0 win over Carnlough Swifts.

Rathcoole Reserves ran out 8-0 winners over Castle Star Reserves. Ross McAllister (three), Sam Toan, Gary Dixon, Jim Douglas (two) and Glenn Hosie all found the net.

Welshman Cup R2: Krag Albion hammered Clough Rangers Athletic 7-1. Dean Meneely (three), Noel Williams (two), Lee Lowry and Jackson Griffith were on target.

Canada Trophy R2: After a 3-3 draw at the end of extra-time, it was Whitehead Rangers who got the better of Carnmoney, winning the penalty shootout 5-3. Craig Montgomery netted a hat-trick for Carnmoney, while an own goal, a William Ross free-kick and Gordon Ross’s 94th-minute effort were marked up on the Rangers scoresheet.
