David Dorrian’s first match in charge of Ballyclare was a resounding success with a 3-0 home win over the Welders.
“We set out to snuff out the Welders’ attack, and the lads gave 100 per cent to achieve this,” said Dorrian. “We were boosted by the return of two key players, Doyle and Trussell, and one stiffened the defence while the other sharpened the attack. Overall it was mission accomplished, and I was delighted with the result.”
Randal Reid got the ball rolling when he steered home Samuel McIlveen’s free-kick from six yards out on 19 minutes.
Eion Kane rattled the woodwork before doubling the Comrades’ advantage with a sublime lob over the keeper just before the half-hour mark.
Chris Trussell wrapped things up when he clinically dispatched the ball into the net after capitalising on a loose pass.
