4th Newtownabbey claimed their first Division 2C point of the season with a hard-fought 3-3 draw away to an impressive Finaghy outfit last weekend.

The Old Boys went a goal down but responded immediately when Irvine finished off a delightful move.

The Belfast men stepped it up a gear towards the end of the first-half, scoring two quickfire goals - one a long-range gem.

But the visitors hit back in the second-half when Kyle Mills, who had stepped up from the second team, drilled in a fine shot from 12 yards.

And when Simon Ball expertly converted David Trimble’s cross, there looked to be only one winner. But, despite chance after chance, Finaghy held on.

4th Newtownabbey: Robinson, Jefferson, Taggart, Sharkey, Ball, Purdy, Kennedy, Mills, Irvine, Trimble (c).

A trip to Donaghadee FC lies in store for 4th tomorrow afternoon.
